Swing Gate Designs
As the name suggests, swing gates typically operate just like your bathroom or bedroom door, hinged on the edge to open outward or inward. However, always remember that outward swing gates should be set back from a sidewalk or a street to avoid hitting cars or passersby during operation. There are two main styles of swing gates:
- Single swing gates
- Double swing gates
Single swing gate are only hinged on one side, with the motor operating the entire gate leaf which spans across the entire width. Double swing gates are hinged at both sides, the gate leaf is split into two and meet in the centre of the span.
Single swing gates
Single swing gates are ideal for smaller pedestrian gates as a standard drivrway span is often too wide for a single gate motor to operate. These gates are usually installed on a smooth plane, meaning your driveway should be relatively flat.
Double swing gates
The double swing design is more visually appealing, and ideal for larger spans to spread the load between two motors, even if it will require the installation of two motors. Altogether, the two gate leafs require less space to operate.
